How to Become an Online Notary in Ohio



Once you have met all the requirements to become a traditional notary in Ohio, you can apply to become an online notary by:

Hold an existing commission as a traditional Notary Public.
Take a two-hour course and pass a test with one of the state-approved education and testing providers.
Choose a RON vendor that complies with Ohio State standards (ex. BlueNotary).
Obtain a digital certificate and eseal that is compatible with your chosen vendor.
Complete your Online Notarization Authorization application by logging into your account on the Ohio Secretary of State website.
Upload PDFs of your completion certificates for the course and exam.
Pay the $20 filing fee online.

Once you have become an online notary in Ohio, you will be able to provide secure remote notarial services for Ohio residents. Always ensure that you follow the guidelines and laws set out by the state, as well as your chosen RON vendor.

Pay the $50 application fee.
You should receive a reference number
